Understanding SID, SAI & KIM

Before you invest in any mutual fund scheme, three statutory documents govern that scheme, and you're entitled to read all of them first. We don't write or control these documents — the relevant Asset Management Company (AMC) does, under SEBI regulation — but as your distributor we make sure you know they exist, what each one covers, and where to find them.

DocumentWhat it containsWhere to find it
SID
Scheme Information Document
Scheme-specific details: investment objective & strategy, asset allocation, risks specific to that scheme, fund manager, benchmark, expense ratio, load structure, and past performance (where applicable). The relevant AMC's website and AMFI's website (amfiindia.com), under that scheme's page. Ask us and we'll send you the specific PDF for any scheme you're considering.
SAI
Statement of Additional Information
Fund-house-wide (not scheme-specific) information: the sponsor, trustee and AMC, legal & constitution details, general investment restrictions, accounting policies, taxation, and investor rights common to all schemes of that fund house. The same AMC's website, usually linked from the SID.
KIM
Key Information Memorandum
A short, simplified summary of the SID. By regulation, it must accompany every application form — physical or online. Attached to the application form itself, and on the AMC's or AMFI's website.
Read before you invest. SEBI and AMFI require these documents to be made available to you, and we hold ourselves to the same standard: we won't process an investment for you without you having had the chance to read the current SID and KIM for that specific scheme. If anything we've told you ever seems to conflict with what's written in the SID, the SID governs — please ask us to clarify before you invest.

Four things worth checking in every SID

  • Investment objective & category — does it actually match what you're trying to achieve?
  • Riskometer level — is it a risk level you're comfortable holding through a downturn?
  • Total Expense Ratio (TER) — the annual cost, deducted from returns automatically.
  • Exit load & lock-in — how and when you can withdraw without a penalty.
